Description

CancerCare is offering a free, biweekly live support group (8 sessions) for children, ages 7 - 17, who live in New Jersey, to express their feelings in a safe, supportive environment, share their experiences and learn coping skills for dealing with difficult feelings. This group is open to children and teens with a family member who has been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing cancer treatment.

Each session will be divided into breakout rooms by age (7-12 and 13-17) to allow stronger connections to develop.

Our Groups:

  • Provide cancer-focused support
  • Reduces feelings of loneliness, anxiety and distress
  • Help increase feelings of hope and empowerment
  • Assist you in learning new ways of coping
  • Help you improve communication with your loved ones
  • Provide you with practical information and resources in your community

Start Date

We are recruiting for the next group cycle which will begin October 18, 2023. This support group meets biweekly on Wednesdays, from 4 to 5 p.m. ET.

This group will utilize a secure video platform. Group members will still have the option to call in if they do not have access to video technology.

CancerCare for Kids services are provided by professional oncology social workers who specialize in working with children and adolescents. This support group will be co-facilitated by CancerCare oncology social workers, Nikki Molfetas, LSW, and Julia Manna, LSW.
