2019 Year in Review

Over the past twelve months, we are proud of all that CancerCare has accomplished. Here are just a few highlights, featuring new initiatives, CancerCare staff, community events and more:

We launched our 75th anniversary celebration to commemorate three-quarters of a century of providing help and hope to those affected by cancer.

In February, July and October, we held multiple Brave Beauty classes in partnership with Sephora.

Our New Jersey office moved to a larger space in Paramus, where we now have the opportunity to host even more community events and workshops and grow our impact in the region.

We relaunched My Cancer Circle, a free online tool to organize and coordinate resources for caregivers, with a new user-friendly interface.

Our 75th anniversary gala and our 31st annual Festival of Hope Gala raised crucial funds to support our free programs and services for people living with cancer, their caregivers and loved ones.

To recognize National Women’s Health Week, we hosted a Women’s Meet & Greet for women coping with a cancer diagnosis to share their experiences and build community.

CancerCare published a new manifesto declaring the importance of patients’ values in treatment decision making.

Twenty-seven families spent the weekend in Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania, for our 11th annual Healing Hearts Family Bereavement Camp, a free retreat for families and children coping with the loss of a loved one to cancer.

CancerCare’s Young Professionals Committee hosted their second annual fundraiser, benefiting a new scholarship program for young adults attending college who have lost a parent to cancer.

We hosted our first annual Walk, Wag & Run event in Leonia, New Jersey, allowing canine companions to join in on the fun of our New Jersey walk/run event. We also held our annual Lung Cancer Walk for Hope in Woodbury, Long Island. These events raised over $200,000 to support our services.

Christine Verini, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of CancerCare, was recently named as one of PharmaVOICE Magazine’s 100 Most Inspiring People.

We are grateful to our dedicated supporters for making all of these achievements possible. Thank you for your generosity and your passion for our mission!
