For the third year, CancerCare, in partnership with Flatiron Health, hosted a fun-filled Winter Wonderland Holiday Party. The party was open to all of CancerCare’s clients, including families, adults and caregivers affected by cancer. Flatiron Health graciously hosted 120+ children, adults and staff members in their office space in the Soho neighborhood of New York City.

For the third year in a row, CancerCare helped families through our Back-to-School Program. One mother shares: “Jaeden was so happy when he received his new backpack. It’s fashionable and resistant to the weight he will be carrying this school year. Thank you so much-this program has helped med a lot by cutting down on the back-to-school bill!”

On the second weekend of June, CancerCare hosted the 10th annual Healing Hearts Family Bereavement Camp, a free retreat for families and children coping with the loss of a loved one to cancer. For this year’s camp, 27 families spent the weekend at the Malibu Dude Ranch in Milford, PA, at an ocean-themed retreat. Families came to the camp from the tri-state area, as well as Virginia, Delaware, North Carolina and Massachusetts.

On Tuesday, March 6th, CancerCare’s New Jersey office, in partnership with The Valley Hospital, hosted a fun-filled Super Hero Workshop for families affected by cancer.

“Our role is to provide a safe space for children and teens to talk about their feelings and teach them coping strategies that might help during this difficult time”

CancerCare wishes to extend our warmest thanks to the Phi Beta Kappa (PBK) Association of New York! The national academic honor society recently donated funds and gifts to CancerCare clients at its 2017 Holiday Party & Toy Drive.

The CancerCare for Kids Back-to-School program provided backpacks filled with school supplies to over 100 children and teens coping with a cancer diagnosis in the family.

CancerCare’s annual Healing Hearts Family Bereavement Camp is a free retreat for families with children or teens who are coping with the loss of a loved one to cancer.

A free martial arts class for families affected by cancer helps kids and parents build confidence and coping skills.
