LGBT Community

Are you a person who identifies as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT) and has cancer? Are you the loved one or significant other of someone who is LGBT and trying to cope with cancer? CancerCare offers specialized counseling services for people affected by cancer, their caregivers, and those who have lost a loved one.

CancerCare's professional oncology social workers support clients in learning to cope with cancer and address concerns unique to the LGBT populations. Services include:

Individual Counseling

Talk with an oncology social worker one-on-one who can work with you from diagnosis through survivorship providing emotional and practical support. Meet with someone in person or have sessions over the phone.

Support Groups

Connect with others to share support, resources and tips for managing the challenges of cancer. Types of groups offered include:

  • We are working to develop face-to-face groups based on your needs. Please email us if you are interested.

Financial Help

Get guidance on money matters. You may also qualify for limited aid to help cover treatment-related costs like transportation and child-care.
