Post-Treatment Survivors
- "I've finished my treatment, so why can't life go back to the way it was before cancer?"
- "How do I take care of my health in the future?"
- "What if the cancer comes back?"
Cancer survivor – this is a term we hear often as more and more people are living with, through, and beyond cancer. But while family and friends are celebrating the completion of your treatment, you may be left with a number of unexpected emotional, physical, and practical issues.
To respond to the important needs of cancer survivors, CancerCare has teamed up with the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) for the LIVESTRONG™ SurvivorCare program, which focuses on the particular needs of people after they finish their treatment. People who contact LIVESTRONG™ SurvivorCare via e-mail or the toll-free number (1-866-235-7205) are greeted by case managers at the Long Island office of CancerCare. This specially trained staff offers help for cancer survivors and their families, including the professional counseling services of CancerCare.
LAF’s website offers reliable information that helps people with cancer to “live strong” through the physical, emotional, and practical challenges of survivorship.
Here’s what CancerCare can offer for survivors and their loved ones. As always, our services are free and provided in both English and Spanish.
