Still, she found herself grappling with difficult emotions brought on by her diagnosis. She came to CancerCare for counseling and learned that everything she was feeling was completely normal, which gave her the strength to keep wearing that “S” on her shirt.

Lynn’s multiple myeloma diagnosis came as a shock, as did losing her hair from her intensive treatments. She made an appointment at CancerCare’s Wig and Prosthesis Clinic, and came away from her visit with a free wig that helped her look and feel less self-conscious about her appearance. Lynn also received financial assistance and participates in various CancerCare programs.

Allison had just graduated from college and was ready to pursue her career when her father was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma. After struggling with her father’s diagnosis, Allison contacted CancerCare to learn about the organization’s services for young adult caregivers—and found the support she needed.

When Dana was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, she took control of her diagnosis by doing her research to learn about treatment and emotional support options. She came to CancerCare to connect with others in a similar situation, and has found the lasting connections she’s made have made a huge difference in her life during and beyond cancer.
