Celebrating and Supporting Cancer Survivors

June is National Cancer Survivors Month, with the first Sunday dedicated to National Cancer Survivors Day. This month is an opportunity for reflection and a chance to honor cancer survivors, support those still on their journey and remember loved ones who have passed.

At CancerCare, we recognize the unique challenges that cancer survivors face even after their treatment ends. The journey doesn’t stop when treatment is over. It evolves. Survivorship brings its own set of emotional, physical and financial challenges. Our oncology social workers are here to provide support every step of the way, with resources tailored for post-treatment survivors as they navigate life after cancer.

Individual Counseling CancerCare's licensed oncology social workers provide free individual and group counseling for residents in New York and New Jersey to help survivors process their experiences, manage emotions and develop coping strategies for the future.

Support Groups Connecting with others who have had similar experiences can be incredibly healing. Our virtual, in-person and online support groups, in English and Spanish, offer a safe space for survivors to share their stories, exchange advice, and build lasting connections.

Educational Workshops CancerCare's Connect Education Workshops cover a variety of topics relevant to survivors, including managing long-term side effects, issues unique to young adult survivors and dealing with the stresses of survivorship.

Coping Circle Workshops & Community Programs CancerCare offers virtual and in-person workshops that provide support and information to people at all stages of their cancer journey. Our Coping Circle Workshops are designed to address specific topics and populations and are available in English and Spanish.

Resource Navigation & Practical Help We offer guidance on navigating health care systems, understanding insurance and accessing it, resource navigation and other necessary services.

Publications From navigating the return to work and coping with the loss of fertility to managing fears of cancer returning, CancerCare offers a variety of free publications for post-treatment cancer survivors.

Stories of Help & Hope One of the most powerful ways we can support each other is by sharing our stories. CancerCare's Stories of Help & Hope section is a dedicated space where patients, survivors, caregivers and those grieving the loss of a loved one can share their experiences. These stories have the potential to inspire others and create a sense of community and shared understanding. You will also find additional stories through our podcast, Cancer Out Loud. We invite anyone who has benefited from a CancerCare service to share their story.
