Celebrating CancerCare's Walk for Hope
I have always found a special purpose and mission in bringing the community together. When you add a beautiful fall morning, some fresh air and colorful foliage, you have the start of a pretty wonderful day. And a great day for a walk!
On November 15, 2026, I’ll be joining the CancerCare staff again for our annual Walk for Hope, and I hope you’ll consider joining us!
Taking place at the Town of Oyster Bay Golf Course in Woodbury, NY, the Walk for Hope is an opportunity to come together in support of individuals and families navigating the challenges of cancer.
As an oncology social worker, I know that a cancer diagnosis affects so much more than someone's physical health. It can bring uncertainty, emotional stress, financial concerns, changes in family relationships, and questions about what comes next. And while every person's experience is different, one thing remains true. No one should have to navigate cancer alone. That is why we all walk together to honor our loved ones or share hopes for the future.
The work CancerCare does matters so much to me. Every day, our oncology social workers and navigators help people affected by cancer access our programs, including counseling, support groups, educational resources, and practical assistance. These services are so crucial and always provided free of charge, because patients and families deserve to access services to help them cope better with cancer.
The Walk for Hope gives us a chance to come together to celebrate and support that work. These are opportunities to recognize the strength of a community that comes together to support a common mission.
Whether you walk in honor or in memory of someone, gather a team of friends or coworkers, raise funds or simply show up to support the cause, every step makes a difference.
This year, like every year, I am looking forward to seeing familiar faces, meeting new supporters, and spending the morning with a community that believes in making a difference. Come on by and say hello to me and the team and enjoy a gorgeous fall morning with supporters who share the same passion.
I hope to see you there!
