Living With Cancer: A Journal Writing Support Group
Description:
CancerCare is offering a free, 8-week live writing group for people ages 18+, who are diagnosed with cancer in New York or New Jersey and are receiving a form of active treatment (surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, hormonal treatments and/or advanced cancer treatment) or are up to 18 months post-treatment. This group will provide a dedicated space to respond to writing prompts, reflect upon and share your writing with the group and exchange support and guidance while discussing the unique challenges of living with a cancer diagnosis.
Our Groups:
- Provide cancer-focused support
- Reduces feelings of loneliness, anxiety and distress
- Help increase feelings of hope and empowerment
- Assist you in learning new ways of coping
- Help you improve communication with your medical team and loved ones
- Provide you with practical information about treatment
- Provide you with resources in your community
This group will utilize a secure video platform. Group members will still have the option to call in if they do not have access to video technology.

This support group is currently recruiting for the October 2026 group cycle which will meet weekly on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. ET for eight weeks.

This support group is moderated by Sarah Tennenhaus, MSW, LCSW, OSW-C, LCSW, OSW-C, Support Group Program Manager/Clinical Supervisor.
