- What is a Telephone Education Workshop?
- CancerCare's free Telephone Education Workshops are a way for people to learn about cancer-related issues from the convenience of their home or office. Leading experts in oncology provide the most up-to-date information on the telephone. These are interactive educational programs to help you and your loved ones better understand and cope with your diagnosis, treatment options, quality-of-life concerns, treatment side effects, pain management, doctor-patient communication and other important topics.
- How do I participate?
- All you need is a telephone. Participation is free, and no phone charges apply. Pre-registration is required.
- How do I register?
- Click here to register online or call CancerCare at 1-800-813-HOPE (4673). After you have registered, you will receive additional information.
- What if I miss a Telephone Education Workshop?
A listing of featured programs is available by calling 1-888-337-7533, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
In addition, CancerCare's past Telephone Education Workshops are available as podcasts or telephone replay. Telephone Education Workshop podcasts are arranged according to subject. To view the list of podcasts under each topic, click on the topic name below.

- Can I ask a question during a Telephone Education Workshop?
- Yes! Telephone Education Workshops last one hour and participants will have the opportunity to ask the expert speakers questions during the last 20-30 minutes of each workshop.
- I don't know what telephone number I will be at during the Telephone Education Workshop. Can I still participate?
- Yes! When you register for a workshop on CancerCare's website, the information and instructions on how to join the call will be emailed to you one week prior to each workshop. The instructions will include a toll-free dial-in number that you can use to join the call. This means that you can access the Workshop from any phone in the United States.
- Can I participate in a Telephone Education Workshop if I live outside of the United States?
- Yes! Individuals from all over the world participate in CancerCare's Telephone Education Workshops. CancerCare will arrange for the conference operator to dial the telephone number that you provide. You will receive additional details before each program. It is especially important for participants outside of the United States to provide the telephone number (including country and city codes) where they can be reached during the program.
- Are continuing education units available for health professionals?
- The majority of the Telephone Education Workshops offer continuing education units for social workers, although some programs provide education credits for other disciplines. The details of each program on the calendar will indicate if continuing education units are available.
