This year, 120 children from 51 families across the tri-state area received brand new backpacks filled with essential school supplies to help them start the school year with confidence and excitement.

From May 30 to June 1, 2025, CancerCare’s 16th Annual Healing Hearts Family Bereavement Camp welcomed families who have recently lost a loved one to cancer to Memorytown USA in Mount Pocono, PA. 17 families and 27 children aged 4-15 attended from states including New Jersey, New York, North Carolina and Washington.

If you have been diagnosed with cancer, are a caregiver or have lost a loved one, you have likely faced unique challenges along the way. In our 80th anniversary year, we were proud to meet the needs of anyone affected by cancer through our emotional, practical and financial assistance programs and patient advocacy efforts.

Effective in 2025, Medicare beneficiaries with traditional Medicare who have a stand-alone Part D Prescription Drug Plan AND Medicare beneficiaries with a Medicare Advantage Plan that includes Part D prescription drug coverage (sometimes called Part C) have a new option to pay their out-of-pocket prescription drug expenses in monthly payments instead of paying them at the pharmacy.

On November 17, over 200 people participated in a family-friendly 5K walk at the Town of Oyster Bay Golf Course, in Woodbury, NY, to honor their loved ones and raise funds to support CancerCare.

Through a new partnership with Christine Valmy, a beauty and skin care school, CancerCare has offered a series of skin care workshops led by oncology-trained estheticians for people diagnosed with cancer. The workshops, held in New York City in June, and in New Jersey in November, made it clear that this is an area of support missing for patients.

Last month, young adults affected by cancer met at the Peer Space Studio in Manhattan at an event hosted by CancerCare and Stupid Cancer.

Beginning January 1, 2025, Medicare beneficiaries enrolled in Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage (Part D plan) will have their out-of-pocket (OOP) costs for covered prescription drugs filled at an in-network pharmacy capped at $2,000.

This summer, 187 students in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut received backpacks full of new school supplies for the start of the academic year as part of CancerCare for Kids’ Back-to-School Program.
