CancerCare’s Education Department seeks a full-time Outreach Coordinator to handle outreach and marketing activities for the organization’s CancerCare Connect® Education Workshops and other Education Department initiatives. The Education Department offers up-to-date information and support for cancer patients, survivors, caregivers and health professionals through telephone and online workshops. Founded in 1944, CancerCare is the leading national organization providing free, professional support services and information to help people manage the emotional, practical and financial challenges of cancer. Our comprehensive services include counseling and support groups over the phone, online and in-person, educational workshops, publications and financial and co-payment assistance. All CancerCare services are provided by oncology social workers and world-leading cancer experts.


  • Increase awareness of Education programs via outreach and marketing efforts
  • Research new collaborating organizations and professional groups
  • Assist in researching new topics, emerging oncology and healthcare trends, and prospective speakers to expand workshop programming in coordination with the Director of Education and Training
  • Draft promotional emails to workshop participants and health care professionals
  • Prepare announcements and sample questions for workshops
  • Maintain database of contact information, CVs, biosketches and areas of expertise for workshop faculty
  • Organize and maintain Education Department reference files
  • Identify and implement creative internal and external promotion strategies for workshops
  • Collaborate with Education Department staff on ad hoc projects as necessary
  • Proofread and review Education Department materials, including teleconference/webcast mailings, brochures and other collateral materials


  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree with demonstrated interest in patient education, public health, and/or health communications.

Qualifications & Qualities:

  • Prior outreach, marketing and/or communications experience preferred
  • Collaborative, detail-oriented, with proven organizational, research and documentation skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with emphasis on interpersonal interaction, including client, internal and external communication
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Able to manage multiple concurrent projects, prioritize tasks, work independently and maintain confidentiality
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required; working knowledge of Adobe InDesign preferred
