Claire is a Clinical Supervisor at CancerCare and oversees our Healing Hearts Family Bereavement Camp, a free weekend overnight retreat at Malibu Dude Ranch in Milford, PA, for families who have lost a loved one to cancer. Claire also provides counseling to people coping with cancer and people who have experienced the loss of a loved one.
Claire shares, “Having a sister diagnosed with cancer and noting how a social worker could assist her family gave me the impetus to return to grad school years after I had left it. My sister Alice Claire is the spark in my work. I like working with all populations, and learn something from each and every client that I speak with. My passion is our Healing Hearts Family Bereavement Camp. I believe our helpline has the potential to shift one’s paradigm, where a single conversation can instill someone with hope, where there was none. Our work at CancerCare is one of a kind, and I like to say, ‘If you know someone with cancer, please tell them about us.’ My philosophy in life is to help one person a day. Our helpline allows for this and more…as do all our services! I have great respect for my colleagues at CancerCare, and believe they are the cream of the crop.”
