CancerCare® Receives $400,000 Contribution From The Mary Kay Foundation to Assist Women With Cancer

NEW YORK (February 6, 2017) — CancerCare®, the leading national nonprofit organization providing free, professional support services to anyone affected by cancer, is pleased to announce the continued availability of financial assistance for women with cancer thanks to a generous contribution from The Mary Kay Foundation. Since 2000, the Touching Hearts Program, generously supported by The Mary Kay Foundation, has made it possible for CancerCare to provide direct financial assistance to women with all cancers.

“When a person is diagnosed with cancer, there are numerous immediate medical, financial and logistical concerns. As a result, many people do not anticipate the indirect costs of cancer treatment, such as transportation, home care and child care,” shares Jane Levy, Director of Patient Assistance at CancerCare. “CancerCare thanks the Mary Kay Foundation, on behalf of the more than 37,000 women who have received assistance since this program’s inception, for this generous contribution, which will lighten the burden of these indirect costs.”

The Mary Kay Foundation aims to eliminate cancers affecting women and to end the epidemic of violence against women. The organization was founded in 1996 by Mary Kay Ash, after her husband passed away from lung cancer.
