What's New
Support for Young Adults

April 6-12 is National Young Adult Cancer Awareness Week. A diagnosis of cancer in your 20s or 30s comes at a time when you least expect to be worrying about your health. If there are questions you need to talk through or conversations no one else seems to understand, find out more about our Young Adult patient and caregiver services.

CancerCareFocus On: Colorectal Cancer

A colorectal cancer diagnosis can affect you both emotionally and physically. Treatments may affect your diet and appetite. You may also feel sad, angry, scared or frustrated. Learning about your cancer and the supportive services available to you can help you cope.

CancerCare is here to help. You can listen to our podcast of the Telephone Education Workshop, Living with Colon Cancer or read our Connect® booklet, Advances in the Treatment of Colorectal Cancer . For help coping with emotional challenges, you can speak with a social worker or join an online or telephone support group for colorectal patients.

For more information about other ways we can help, call us at 1-800-813-HOPE (4673) or email info@cancercare.org.

ReminderReminder: It’s National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and our Ask CancerCare expert will answer questions about coping with colorectal cancer. Submit your question here.

Managing Your Cancer: Staying on Schedule

Many people on targeted treatments need to take their pills daily for months or even years to control their cancer or prevent recurrence. Because staying with a treatment plan over a long period of time can be challenging, we've created the Connect® booklet, Taking Pills for Cancer Treatment: Tips for Staying on Your Treatment Planpdf.

You'll learn about:

  • The importance of taking pills on schedule
  • Practical tips for sticking to a treatment plan
  • Communicating with your health care team
  • The importance of a support network.
CancerCare ConnectCancerCare Connect®: Telephone Education Workshops

Learn about the latest cancer information straight from leading experts, in our free Telephone Education Workshops. Listen in by telephone and have a chance to ask the experts your own questions.

Register for these workshops online, or call 1-800-813-HOPE (4673). Past Telephone Education Workshops are available as podcasts.

For Professionals

For the best quality of care possible, a report by The National Academies' Institute of Medicine (IOM) urges giving patients access to services that address the emotional and social effects of cancer. Connecting your clients with a CancerCare oncology social worker who understands these concerns is just a phone call away, at 1-800-813-HOPE (4673).
