April 1–7 is National Young Adult Cancer Awareness Week. CancerCare offers professional support services addressing the unique concerns of young adults. Learn more about the challenges young adults face when coping with cancer from CancerCare’s Coordinator of Young Adult Services, Angelique Caba, LCSW. Watch the video.
Ekata, a young adult coping with chronic lymphocytic leukemia, came to CancerCare for help communicating with her family about her diagnosis. Through working with her social worker, Ekata learned to focus on herself rather than feel overly concerned with what people around her are feeling. “It’s hard to figure out your emotions sometimes, but my social worker makes me realize that it’s okay to feel the way I feel.” Read Ekata's story.

MyCancerCircle.net is an online tool created by Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc., in collaboration with CancerCare, to help caregivers create their own community of support. The tool allows caregivers to coordinate volunteer activities such as cooking meals or transporting a loved one to appointments. My Cancer CircleTM also provides a private space where members can offer words of support and encouragement.

For the first time, CancerCare will host its signature WALK/RUN FOR HOPE in Greenwich CT, May 5, with proceeds benefiting CancerCare’s professional support services for people affected by cancer. This new, USATF-certified 5k event is part of the Betteridge Greenwich Cup, and awards will be given to the top individual and team fundraisers, along with the top runners!
