Managing Your Cancer

Coping with Cancer as a Young Adult

April 1–7 is National Young Adult Cancer Awareness Week. CancerCare offers professional support services addressing the unique concerns of young adultsLearn more about the challenges young adults face when coping with cancer from CancerCare’s Coordinator of Young Adult Services, Angelique Caba, LCSW. Watch the video.

Ekata, a young adult coping with chronic lymphocytic leukemia, came to CancerCare for help communicating with her family about her diagnosis. Through working with her social worker, Ekata learned to focus on herself rather than feel overly concerned with what people around her are feeling. “It’s hard to figure out your emotions sometimes, but my social worker makes me realize that it’s okay to feel the way I feel.” Read Ekata's story.
