Focus On

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Julia, a CancerCare client and longtime breast cancer survivor

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and CancerCare’s free, professional services help with the practical and emotional concerns that may arise from being diagnosed. Our breast cancer services include counseling, support groups, educational workshops and publications.

CancerCare also provides financial assistance for treatment-related expenses such as transportation and home care. Our specific programs include:

  • AvonCares (a partnership with the Avon Foundation for Women)
  • “CancerCare Get You There” (funded by Celgene Corporation)
  • Linking A.R.M.S.™ (a partnership with Susan G. Komen for the Cure)
  • Triple Negative Breast Cancer Helpline and Financial Assistance (a partnership with the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation).

Additionally, we’ve recently launched a new website for women coping with any cancer diagnosis: cancercareforwomen.org. You’ll find helpful information about topics including mind/body practices, nutrition, exercise, and relationships, along with inspirational stories from women coping with cancer.
