The Website Development Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day management and updating of the technical aspects of CancerCare’s websites and ensures their design, functionality and operability reflect the organization’s mission and services.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all technical aspects for CancerCare websites
  • Manage content updates and update functionality, as needed
  • Test all website changes to identify any technical issues
  • Provide routine maintenance and upgrades for all websites and databases
  • Interface with IT department to ensure website and server security
  • Track, analyze and report on all website and email metrics, documenting effectiveness
  • Implement web development standards and best practices, maintaining and updating website and online style guides
  • Assist in formatting emails, testing across multiple browsers and mobile devices
  • Work with third-party vendors to improve and optimize websites
  • Research and recommend solutions for technical and functional website improvements, including responsive website design

Requirements, Education and Skills

  • Degree plus 1-3 years of website development and maintenance experience, preferably for a non-profit or academic organization
  • Ability to write and edit clean, well-structured HTML5, CSS3, and PHP code
  • Fluency with Ruby on Rails and JavaScript preferred
  • Experience with version-control systems like Git
  • Knowledge of MySQL database
  • Experience with Google Analytics, SEO best practices and automated website testing tools
  • Comfortable using Adobe’s Creative Suite, an FTP client, and web-based content management systems
  • Fluency with industry-standard web technologies; website design experience a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and detail-oriented
