CancerCare Receives $700,000 Grant from The New York Community Trust

CancerCare is pleased to announce the receipt of a $700,000 grant from The New York Community Trust to provide financial assistance to New York residents and their families who are facing cancer.

The New York Community Trust, one of the country’s largest community foundations, supports charities in the New York metropolitan area. Each year, grants are made in support of areas including the arts, civic affairs, community development, education, the environment, health and human services, historic preservation, legal assistance, and medical research. Since 2000, the New York Community Trust has donated over $11 million in support of CancerCare’s mission.

“Thanks to the outstanding generosity of The New York Community Trust and their continued commitment to CancerCare’s free services, we are better able to meet the ever-increasing needs of New Yorkers affected by a cancer diagnosis,” said CancerCare CEO Patricia J. Goldsmith. “The financial costs associated with cancer are often overwhelming. Even with insurance, most people are unprepared for the out-of-pocket expenses for medical care. These funds provide a significant source of relief for local families who are coping with the enormous financial and emotional challenges that accompany a cancer diagnosis.”
