CancerCare is pleased to welcome Chief Business Development Officer Christine Verini. Ms. Verini will serve as a key member of CancerCare’s Executive Leadership Team with a primary focus on expanding existing and future mission-based programs and enhancing and building organizational support and collaborations.

“CancerCare is a great organization that has always been a strong advocate for support of patients emotionally, financially and with every day practical needs,” shared Ms. Verini. “I am excited to be a part of the CancerCare team to help the organization to continue to grow and support the needs of patients and their families. ”

Ms. Verini brings a wealth of advocacy and strategic planning expertise to her new role, most recently serving as Vice President of Corporate Communications and Advocacy at Eisai. In this position, she oversaw the company's internal and external communications functions; the strategic direction for corporate and brand media relations; as well as outreach to and relationships with patient advocacy and professional organizations.

“CancerCare is thrilled to welcome Christine Verini to the organization,” said Patricia J. Goldsmith, CancerCare Chief Executive Officer. “Christine’s dedication to supporting people challenged by cancer, coupled with her formidable business and strategic planning expertise, makes her an outstanding addition to CancerCare’s Executive Leadership Team as we plan for the future expansion of the organization.”

Joining Eisai in 2009, Ms. Verini served as Group Director of Oncology New Product Marketing. In 2010, she was named to the positions of Executive Director of Eisai Value Maximization Systems, Head of Women's Oncology and Global Launch Leader for an Eisai's oncology product. In this three-pronged role, she was in charge of the commercial drug development and lifecycle management plans; oversight of the global oncology team's marketing, market research and pre-commercial activities; and implementation of the pre-commercial strategic directions for all pre-launch activities. In addition, she spearheaded the successful launch of a breast cancer drug into the U.S. market. Prior to joining Eisai, Ms. Verini spent eight years at Sanofi-Aventis U.S. A registered pharmacist by training, she began her career at Sanofi as a medical liaison in oncology before serving in a number of marketing roles for the company’s oncology business. In these positions, she developed key brand strategies, launched various initiatives for health care professionals, and created direct-to-consumer campaigns.

Ms. Verini was also instrumental in creating Magnolia™, an Eisai women's oncology program, which is designed to give women living with cancer a way to address their challenges. The program's Magnolia Meals at Home™ initiative, which was launched in May 2012, provides meals at no cost to eligible patients and families living with breast and thyroid cancer.

Ms. Verini received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from St. John's University. She formerly served on the Board of Directors of CancerCare New Jersey, and currently serves on the board of HealthyWomen, an independent health information organization that seeks to educate, inform and empower women to make smart health choices for themselves and their families.
